Description

This Persian Senneh kilim is a flatwoven tribal textile featuring a dark midnight navy field enriched by crimson red contrasts and layered symbolic composition.

The kilim is organized around a central medallion structure surrounded by abstract floral, animal, and geometric motifs arranged in rhythmic tribal sequence.

Bird motifs appear throughout the composition and likely represent domesticated regional species interpreted through geometric tribal abstraction.

The field also contains repeated comb motifs, a symbolic element frequently appearing in tribal weaving traditions across western Iran.

One of the most unusual aspects of the composition is the appearance of four Iranian tricolor flag motifs positioned around the medallion and central field.

These symbolic elements introduce a distinct cultural and historical layer into the weaving while remaining integrated within the broader tribal geometric structure.

The midnight field coloration approaches black in many sections and creates strong atmospheric contrast against the crimson motifs and lighter symbolic details.

Visible abrash variation appears throughout parts of the kilim, reinforcing the handmade character and tonal movement of the textile.

The composition is framed by a single border that preserves visual restraint around the denser symbolic field.

The interaction between the dark field, bird motifs, symbolic flag imagery, and abstract tribal geometry creates layered visual tension and unusually narrative tribal atmosphere.

The kilim balances folkloric symbolism with highly abstract compositional structure, giving the textile both graphic clarity and cultural depth.

This piece stands out for its midnight palette, bird motifs, and rare integration of Iranian flag symbolism within tribal kilim design.
