Description

This vintage Persian Sanandaj kilim features a geometric tribal composition traditionally known as the Strawberry Pattern.

The palette combines dusty salmon pink, faded coral, warm ivory, and muted olive accents layered through softened nomadic tonal movement.

The overall atmosphere feels warm, faded, and gently tribal while preserving the refined textile rhythm associated with Sanandaj flatweaving traditions.

The composition is built through continuous linear geometric motifs whose flowing interconnected structure gives the kilim strong directional movement across the surface.

Within local weaving traditions, this pattern became associated with strawberries partly because of the repeated connected forms that visually resemble cultivated agricultural rows.

The motif also reflects the agricultural identity surrounding the city of Sanandaj, where strawberries have historically been among the region’s most recognizable products.

This relationship between regional agricultural life and woven tribal symbolism contributed to the popularity and repetition of the pattern in local kilim weaving traditions.

The geometric drawing remains balanced and rhythmic while preserving the freer handmade irregularity characteristic of nomadic flatweaving.

Muted olive accents soften sections of the warmer salmon and coral palette and create additional atmospheric tonal variation throughout the composition.

Visible abrash movement reinforces the handmade dyeing character of the kilim and creates softened transitions between the faded tonal areas.

Because the piece is fully flatwoven and reversible, both sides can be used while preserving the clarity of the geometric tribal structure.

The interaction between the strawberry-pattern geometry, salmon-pink palette, linear tribal rhythm, and softened ivory tonalities creates calm decorative atmosphere with strong Kurdish textile identity.

This piece stands out for its rare Strawberry Pattern composition, faded salmon palette, and rhythmic Sanandaj tribal geometry.
