Malayer is a historical city in west of Iran which it’s oldest structurs dates back to the last century BC and it’s most important reputation throughout history is rug weaving.
There are few Malayer carpets left. High quality and a very favorable market have made very few of them available and all transferred to collections. Malayer “Mahi” motifs (usage of “Mahi” motifs roots back to “Mithraism”) were one of the most important areas of Iranian weaving districts between 1800 and 1970.
