Description

This antique Persian Shahsavan kilim features a highly intricate symbolic tribal composition built around oversized asymmetrical medallions arranged across the flatwoven surface.

The palette combines deep navy, dark madder red, muted turquoise tonalities, and warm ivory accents layered throughout the composition.

The overall atmosphere feels jewel-like, mythological, and deeply tribal while preserving the handmade irregularity characteristic of antique Shahsavan flatweaving traditions.

The oversized medallions are constructed through the geometric visual language commonly associated with antique Shahsavan tribal kilims.

These asymmetrical structures create dynamic directional movement across the surface and reinforce the expressive handmade character of the weaving.

Dense layers of smaller geometric motifs are distributed throughout the composition to fill the surrounding field areas and generate richly textured symbolic rhythm.

Among these smaller motifs, abstract duck forms appear repeatedly as part of the tribal visual vocabulary woven into the kilim.

Visible tonal variation and layered color movement reinforce the handmade dyeing character of the composition and create additional atmospheric depth throughout the surface.

All motifs and structural elements remain geometric and direct, reflecting the visual language associated with Oriental nomadic flatwoven textiles.

Because the kilim is fully flatwoven and reversible, both sides can be used while preserving the clarity of the symbolic tribal motifs.

The interaction between the navy structure, dark madder-red tonalities, muted turquoise accents, ivory highlights, asymmetrical medallions, and dense symbolic geometry creates richly layered nomadic decorative atmosphere with clear Shahsavan textile identity.

This piece stands out for its mythological tribal imagery, oversized asymmetrical medallions, jewel-like palette, and highly intricate handmade Oriental character.
