Description

This vintage Persian Hamedan village rug features a dense Herati medallion-and-corner composition woven on a deep madder-red field with dark brown detailing distributed throughout the surface.

The composition is structured around three central medallions arranged vertically across the field.

Compared to many traditional Hamedan rugs, the medallions here are more reduced and visually minimal, giving the composition stronger geometric clarity and more open structural rhythm.

Across the field, Herati motifs create dense patterned movement while preserving the angular handmade character associated with village weaving traditions.

The borders are filled with floral and leaf ornamentation arranged in repeating rhythmic structures around the composition.

Visible abrash variation appears throughout the rug and softens transitions within the darker red and brown tonal palette.

The overall atmosphere remains medium contrast, with the darker detailing integrated into the warmer field rather than sharply separated from it.

Despite the density of the ornamentation, the rug maintains visual balance because of its organized medallion structure and restrained tonal layering.

The interaction between the deep madder-red field, dark brown details, geometric Herati motifs, and softened abrash movement creates warm rustic village atmosphere with strong decorative rhythm.

The rug preserves the direct handmade geometry and tactile irregularity typical of older Hamedan village carpets.

This piece stands out for its minimal triple-medallion structure, dense Herati field, and warm abrash-rich Hamedan palette.
