Description

This vintage Persian Nahavand rug features an unusually elaborate medallion-and-corner composition woven through deep navy and madder-red tonal layering with warm ivory, dusty salmon, and muted lavender accents.

The composition is highly detailed and visually dense, creating ceremonial atmosphere that feels more refined and architecturally structured than many traditional Nahavand village carpets.

This particular design is relatively uncommon within Nahavand weaving traditions and stands apart from more typical regional compositions.

Across the field, dense geometric floral ornamentation fills the surface in rhythmic repetition while preserving the angular tribal structure associated with village weaving.

The borders contain abstract tribal motifs arranged through freer geometric drawing that contrasts with the more organized density of the field.

Within the composition, four animal motifs appear distributed across the field and introduce symbolic narrative presence into the otherwise floral geometric structure.

The interaction between the animal figures and the dense floral ornamentation creates layered visual rhythm throughout the rug.

Visible abrash variation softens tonal transitions between the navy, madder-red, and lighter accent areas, reinforcing the handmade dyeing character of the weaving.

Despite the density of the ornamentation, the composition remains visually balanced because of its strong medallion structure and controlled geometric organization.

The interaction between the deep navy field, dusty salmon accents, ivory highlights, muted lavender touches, and abstract tribal borders creates rich ceremonial atmosphere with strong collectible presence.

This piece stands out for its unusual Nahavand composition, highly detailed geometric floral structure, and rare narrative animal motifs.
