Description

This vintage Persian Ardabil kilim features a restrained tribal composition arranged around five large geometric medallions woven across an open flatwoven field.

The palette combines dusty salmon-red tonalities with salt-blue structure and soft olive accents layered throughout the composition.

The overall atmosphere feels calm, balanced, and deeply tribal while preserving the handmade irregularity characteristic of Ardabil flatweaving traditions.

Unlike many tribal kilims filled with dense secondary ornamentation, Ardabil kilims often rely more heavily on large primary motifs and simplified open compositions.

This kilim reflects that regional visual language through its spacious field structure and emphasis on large medallion forms rather than dense filler motifs.

The five geometric medallions generate strong rhythmic movement while maintaining restrained compositional clarity throughout the weaving.

Within the narrower border sections, repeated geometric floral motifs appear woven continuously across the structure of the kilim.

Along the outer borders, ram-horn motifs create additional symbolic tribal rhythm and reinforce the nomadic visual vocabulary of the composition.

Subtle tonal interaction between the salmon-red field and salt-blue geometric structure creates softened decorative depth throughout the weaving.

All motifs and structural elements remain geometric and direct, reflecting the visual language associated with Persian tribal flatwoven textiles.

Because the kilim is fully flatwoven and reversible, both sides can be used while preserving the clarity of the symbolic tribal motifs.

The interaction between the dusty salmon-red palette, salt-blue tonalities, olive accents, geometric floral borders, ram-horn motifs, and spacious medallion structure creates refined nomadic decorative atmosphere with clear Ardabil textile identity.

This piece stands out for its restrained composition, large geometric medallions, symbolic border motifs, and balanced handmade tribal character.
