Description

This antique Persian Harsin kilim is a highly refined tribal textile featuring a deep chocolate-brown field structured through dense geometric repetition and tightly organized medallion rhythm.

The composition is built around a chain of repeated diamond medallions arranged across the field with strong architectural balance and controlled tribal geometry.

The tightly repeated geometric structures create concentrated visual density while preserving clarity and rhythmic continuity throughout the surface.

The primary field motifs are known locally as Gol-e Nokhod, a traditional geometric design associated with western Iranian weaving traditions.

Within the borders, elongated duck motifs appear woven in abstract tribal form, introducing directional movement into the composition.

A secondary border contains repeated Sormeh-dan motifs, while another incorporates symbolic eye motifs associated with protective tribal symbolism.

Together, these layered symbolic borders create unusually rich geometric framing around the denser central field.

Ivory highlights sharpen sections of the composition and create restrained contrast against the darker earthy palette.

The overall coloration remains rooted in warm earth tones and softened tribal browns rather than highly saturated contrasts.

The interaction between the dark chocolate field, ivory accents, and dense geometric repetition creates calm but highly concentrated tribal atmosphere.

The kilim displays exceptionally fine weaving quality and unusually disciplined structural organization for a tribal textile of this type.

Examples woven with this level of geometric precision and material quality are increasingly uncommon.

This piece stands out for its dense diamond-chain composition, symbolic border system, and exceptionally refined Harsin tribal geometry.
