Description

This vintage Persian Delfan runner kilim features an unusually elongated tribal composition arranged around four complete medallions and one partially unfinished medallion extending beyond the woven proportions of the textile.

The palette combines oxidized burgundy tonalities with dark mulberry structure and faded sage-green accents layered throughout the composition.

The overall atmosphere feels deep, atmospheric, and strongly nomadic while preserving the handmade irregularity characteristic of Delfan tribal flatweaving traditions.

Triangular geometric motifs appear continuously throughout the composition and function as the primary structural vocabulary shaping the medallions and surrounding tribal geometry.

The elongated runner format creates strong directional movement across the surface and gives additional emphasis to the repeated medallion rhythm.

Visible tonal variation and dramatic field color shifts generate layered decorative depth throughout the weaving and reinforce the handmade dyeing character of the kilim.

These shifting tonal transitions give the darker field unusual richness and create expressive atmospheric movement across the tribal composition.

Runner-format kilims with this specific Delfan and Harsin geometric structure are relatively uncommon compared to wider tribal examples from the same weaving traditions.

This narrower proportion gives the composition a more architectural and rhythmic visual presence.

All motifs and structural elements remain geometric and direct, reflecting the visual language associated with Persian tribal flatwoven textiles.

Because the kilim is fully flatwoven and reversible, both sides can be used while preserving the clarity of the geometric tribal motifs.

The interaction between the oxidized burgundy palette, dark mulberry tonalities, sage-green accents, triangular geometry, elongated medallion structure, and dramatic color shifts creates highly distinctive nomadic decorative atmosphere with clear Delfan textile identity.

This piece stands out for its rare runner proportions, atmospheric tonal movement, elongated tribal medallions, and expressive handmade geometric character.
