Description

This vintage Persian Hamedan rug is a rustic village weaving featuring a saturated lac-red field structured through geometric Mahi motifs and bold medallion composition.

The design follows a medallion-and-corner layout inspired by Hosseinabad carpet traditions from the Malayer region, though interpreted here through a coarser and more direct village weaving language.

The central ivory medallion creates strong contrast against the saturated red field and anchors the composition with bold geometric clarity.

Green accents and smaller orange tonal highlights animate sections of the field and soften the dominance of the deeper lac-red ground.

The Mahi patterning throughout the composition remains larger and coarser than in more finely woven urban interpretations, reinforcing the tactile authenticity and rural handmade character of the rug.

Visible abrash variation introduces tonal movement across the field and enhances the material warmth of the weaving.

The left side of the rug shows slight skewing, a characteristic often found in handmade village rugs and evidence of direct loom weaving without rigid mechanical symmetry.

Rather than functioning as a flaw, this asymmetry contributes to the individuality and handmade presence of the textile.

The upper edge retains kilim-woven finishing that reinforces the structural authenticity of the rug.

The medium-to-low pile height preserves both durability and clear visibility of the geometric structure.

The interaction between the saturated lac-red field, ivory medallion, green accents, and coarse Mahi repetition creates strong rustic tribal atmosphere with bold visual warmth.

This piece stands out for its saturated red palette, Hosseinabad-inspired geometry, and expressive village-woven Hamedan character.
