Description

This Kurdish vintage kilim is a tribal textile featuring a bold central geometric composition arranged through strong tonal contrast and highly rhythmic medallion structure.

The field is organized around five geometric medallions connected through an ivory diamond-chain formation that creates directional visual movement across the surface.

Jet-black and ivory contrasts intensify the geometry and give the composition unusually sharp architectural clarity.

The interaction between the darker field and the concentrated ivory medallions produces an almost woven op-art effect despite the kilim’s deeply tribal handmade origins.

The field coloration carries softened brown tonal variation enriched by visible abrash movement throughout sections of the textile.

These tonal shifts prevent the high-contrast geometry from becoming visually rigid and instead introduce atmospheric softness into the composition.

The medallions remain highly abstract and geometric, reflecting the symbolic visual language associated with Kurdish tribal weaving traditions across western Iran.

The composition balances bold visual structure with rustic handmade irregularities and tactile woven depth.

Woven fringes remain attached along both the upper and lower edges, reinforcing the authentic tribal construction and material identity of the kilim.

The interaction between the jet-black geometry, ivory medallion chain, softened brown field, and abrash transitions creates strong visual rhythm with unusually contemporary spatial presence.

This piece stands out for its op-art-like tribal geometry, bold medallion structure, and high-contrast Kurdish visual atmosphere.
