Description

This antique Persian Shahsavan nomadic saltbag is a deeply rustic tribal textile from Northwest Iran featuring a faded terracotta palette structured through primitive geometric motifs and layered handmade texture.

The front surface is woven in soumak technique, producing dense tactile structure and concentrated geometric rhythm across the decorative face of the textile.

The reverse side remains flatwoven, preserving the utilitarian handmade construction associated with traditional nomadic saltbags.

The motifs remain highly abstract and geometric, reflecting the direct symbolic visual language associated with Shahsavan tribal weaving traditions.

The softened terracotta coloration reinforces the aged atmosphere of the textile and creates calm tonal movement across the compact composition.

The visibly handmade structure, restrained geometry, and worn tribal coloration give the object strong primitive character and authentic nomadic presence.

Shahsavan tribal weavings from Northwest Iran are particularly recognized for their refined woven structures and expressive geometric organization.

The interaction between the faded terracotta field, textured soumak surface, and abstract geometric motifs creates balanced tribal rhythm while preserving sculptural visual depth.

Originally woven as a practical nomadic salt container, the object also functions today as a collectible tribal textile through its tactile handmade structure and atmospheric coloration.

This piece stands out for its faded terracotta palette, primitive geometric motifs, and deeply nomadic woven character.
