Description

This antique Persian Delfan kilim features a weathered tribal composition built around three asymmetrical medallions arranged freely across the flatwoven surface.

The palette combines dusty coral-red tonalities with deep brown-black field structure layered throughout the composition.

The overall atmosphere feels expressive, narrative, and deeply tribal while preserving the handmade irregularity characteristic of antique Delfan flatweaving traditions.

The medallions are designed with noticeable asymmetry and free compositional movement, reinforcing the spontaneous artistic character of the weaving.

Within the red medallion areas, repeated abstract human, bird, and animal motifs appear woven throughout the tribal structure.

These figurative motifs create strong narrative presence and give the kilim a symbolic storytelling atmosphere rarely seen in more restrained geometric compositions.

Across the darker field areas, the composition becomes more geometric, dominated by abstract tribal motifs woven through angular flatwoven structures.

Strong abrash movement and dramatic color shifts appear throughout the kilim, creating layered tonal depth and reinforcing the handmade dyeing character of the weaving.

The selvage edges are woven with goat hair, traditionally used to strengthen nomadic kilim structures and improve long-term durability.

All motifs and structural elements remain geometric and direct while preserving the expressive irregularity characteristic of Persian tribal textiles.

Because the kilim is fully flatwoven and reversible, both sides can be used while preserving the clarity of the symbolic tribal motifs.

The interaction between the dusty coral-red medallions, dark weathered field, figurative imagery, geometric tribal structure, and dramatic abrash tonal movement creates highly atmospheric nomadic decorative presence with clear Delfan textile identity.

This piece stands out for its narrative figural motifs, asymmetrical medallion structure, dramatic color variation, and deeply expressive handmade tribal character.
