Description

This vintage Persian Zanjan rug is a highly expressive folk-art village weaving featuring an electric poppy-red field structured through abstract floral geometry and sharp angular tribal motifs.

The composition follows a medallion-and-corner layout enriched with symbolic animal imagery and dense geometric rhythm across the field.

Like its paired counterpart, the rug contains butterfly motifs distributed throughout the composition, introducing playful symbolic movement into the stronger geometric structure.

The corner sections are especially striking, featuring highly geometric motifs intensified by ivory highlights that sharply contrast against the surrounding darker tonal structures.

These angular corner forms create strong visual tension and reinforce the graphic architectural quality of the composition.

The floral motifs throughout the field remain highly abstract and tribal rather than naturalistic, preserving the direct handmade visual language associated with Zanjan village weaving traditions.

The electric red field amplifies the darker geometric contrasts and gives the rug unusually energetic visual presence.

The interaction between the vivid red ground, ivory-highlighted corners, butterfly motifs, and angular tribal geometry creates strong folk-art atmosphere with rhythmic visual movement.

Decorated and braided fringes reinforce the handmade village identity of the rug and preserve additional tactile tribal detail.

The medium-to-low pile height maintains visibility within the dense geometric structures and figurative motifs.

Although highly symmetrical in structure, the composition preserves subtle handmade irregularities and tactile warmth typical of village-woven tribal carpets.

This piece stands out for its ivory-highlighted geometric corners, butterfly imagery, and vivid electric-red Zanjan folk-art atmosphere.
